On Saturday, July 5th we received a call from Carolyn's brother that her dad was worse and so we hurriedly made plans to leave for North Carolina. I preached the Sunday morning service and Brother Andy Sanford, a young man from our church who has been called to preach, took the evening service and we left that afternoon for North Carolina. We arrived on Wednesday evening and we were able to see her dad the next day and talk briefly with him. He seemed to get a little better, but on Friday again was worse and he passed away on Monday morning. The funeral was on July 17th. We are thankful we got back in time to be able to talk with him. Carolyn spent the rest of the month helping her Mom get things in order before we left to return to Utah.

        It was good to see my mother and brothers once again and to spend some time with our son's family in Virginia. It had been over a year since we had seen our grandson's Michael and Tyler. How they had grown! Michael is now a teenager at 13 and Tyler will soon turn 5.

        We are grateful we were able to visit several supporting churches and one new church, Brother Johnny Taylor and Gethsemane Independent Baptist Church near Wilson, NC while we were home. Our last stop on the way west was at Calvary Baptist in King and we made a special Power Point presentation on Mormonism in the evening service. We arrived back in Tremonton on August 13th.

        Things went well in Tremonton while we were away and attendance remained steady. We had several speakers in while we were away and appreciate the way Brother Sanford stood in for me. It is always a blessing to see God working in a young man's life. We have made arrangements with Pastor Baker, Calvary Baptist Bible College, King, NC to begin teaching classes the end of this month in a satellite school here in Tremonton.

        On 15th of August, two days after we returned to Tremonton, Carolyn had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her hand. The had to make a four inch incision which took twenty four stitches to close. We are grateful that the biopsies came back negative after the surgery. She goes back in four months for follow up biopsy. Thank you for your prayers for her.

        We still have several small projects to complete on the grounds of the church, but things have progressed very well over the summer with our members finishing most of the work while we were away.

        In our past prayer letters we have mentioned the new video titled "DNA and the Book of Mormon." This is an excellent resource to be used with Mormons we are witnessing to and those thinking about converting to Mormonism. I gave away over twenty five copies on our trip East and yesterday got a new supply. I have shipped them to people in the USA and even several overseas countries including Northern Ireland. So far we know of two people the video helped who were considering joining the LDS church and we were able to give them the real Gospel. One LDS couple wrote telling me it opened their eyes and they have received a positive witness for Christ and hopefully they will be saved and others. Please e-mail or write me if you want a copy.         We sincerely covet your prayers as we continue to preach the Gospel and seek the lost here in northern Utah. There are powerful forces working against us because of the deception of the LDS church and the blindness of the people here. But God is able and the Gospel is powerful and can save to the uttermost.
