We have been busy since our return to Utah in August. One new ministry at our church is that we have begun a satellite school out of Calvary Baptist Bible College in King, NC which is a ministry of our sending church. When we were back in NC, we met with Pastor Baker about the need we have here in this area. We are grateful to him and Calvary Baptist for letting us be a part of their college. The school will operate as a Bible college and through CBBC offer four year degrees in theology. We are also operating as a Bible institute which will provide schooling for students not interested in the degree program but who want Bible training. We started classes the first of September with two students enrolled. One is Andy Sanford, who has been working as my right-hand man, and whom we licensed to preach in May. He is on the degree program and the other is Ryan Hansen, a former Mormon who is enrolled in the institute. I am teaching one course on Tuesday nights for three hours and then teaching a two hour course on Sunday afternoons. It is a lot of extra work, but these men are eager to learn and it will provide in the future much needed leaders and teachers for our church. We believe that there are students outside our church in Northern Utah who also wants a quality education and the school may grow.
Our families faired OK during hurricane Isabel that hit the eastern coast. My mother who lives in Pinetops, NC, name is Isabelle and she has received a lot of kidding about the hurricane having her name. My son who lives in Windsor, VA was on the north east edge of the storm and lost some trees in his yard and was without power for eight days. We thank the Lord that there were no injuries and that the Lord kept them safe.
Our church has been in a "summer slump," but attendance is beginning to pick up now. Please pray for four families that we are working with. Most are unsaved and we are praying that they will accept the Lord soon. We are visiting all of them this week and praying the Lord open their hearts and they will be saved.
We have been able to work some on the front yard of our church getting it ready to plant grass seeds so we will have a nice yard in the spring. Also, we will be putting in a sprinkler system in the next few weeks. Hopefully, we can get all this done before freezing weather arrives and the when warm weather arrives in the spring we will have a nice lawn. So far we have not had any really cold weather. Although, Box Elder county has ample water, the rest of Utah is in a four-year drought and we really need a lot of snow this winter. All the lakes and reservoirs are at record lows.
We appreciate your letters of encouragement and sympathy for Carolyn's family after losing her dad. Thank you too for praying for her Mom. She seems to be adjusting well although it is lonely for her. She has been having trouble with her car, and after taking it to several mechanics no one seemed to be able to find the problem. However, my brother Keith kept it for about a week and I think has fixed it for her.
Thank each of you for your faithful prayers and help. As we stand together in this work, God continues to bless us.
